What Mama Learned Last Week: On Friendship and Parenting

Motherhood is full of lessons and sometimes, I’m open to learning them. Here’s what I picked up last week in this week’s edition of  What Mama Learned.

You gotta have friends.

…and they should be friends who add laughter and wisdom and positivity to your life! Remember the lesson on intentionality? You have to be intentional in choosing your friendships. It makes all the difference when you’re facing challenges in life and also keeps your relationship space a lot less messy.

I’m grateful we’ve been blessed with friendships that survive over long distances. It’s a beautiful feeling to see a friend you haven’t seen in a while and be able to pick up where you left off. It’s an art the boys below have perfected. It’s wonderful watching their friendship grow and equally as wonderful to call their parents my friends.

You gotta keep parenting.

Sometimes, I just want to stop telling people to put things away, be nice to others and make better decisions. It’s exhausting to stay on top of what these little people are doing and even more exhausting to have to keep repeating myself.

But I cannot stop. I cannot give in to mommy-exhaustion or let that turn into mommy-burnout. As we way to our kids, you just have to suck it up. Their lives depend on my ability to keep parenting even when parenting sucks!!

And that concludes another week. Now, leave a comment telling me what you learned last week, then go check out this week’s Monday’s Mom.
