Start School Like a Champion - The MamaZone

Between preparing for back to school and the thrill of the 2016 Olympic Games, there’s a lot to be excited about these days. And, while you’re buzzing around getting everything just right, I thought I’d add to your excitement by sharing two of my favorite words: FREE BOOKS.

Team USA sponsors, Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s, HERSHEY’S, and J.M. Smucker have teamed up with Scholastic for the “Start School Like a Champion” program. Simply buy select products at Walmart and earn free Scholastic books. It’s a wonderful way to help students get off to a good start this year. You can earn up to 90 books through September 30th and it’s incredibly easy to participate.

Earn Free Books from Scholastic

The Start School Like a Champion program offers one book for each participating product you purchase. There are over 80 full-length Scholastic books available for beginning readers to teens and there are even ebook and Spanish versions available for some titles. Are you ready to help your students start school like a champion? Here’s how you can earn your free books:

  1. Buy any participating Coca-Cola, HERSHEY’S, Kellogg’s, or J.M. Smucker product at Walmart through 9/30/16. There are over 100 eligible products and you can find the full list at StartSchoolLikeAChampion.com.
  2. Join or log in to Kellogg’s Family Rewards.
  3. Upload your receipt within 30 days of purchase.
  4. Choose to keep the free book or donate it to the school of your choice.

Remember, you’ll earn one book for each item purchased, so keep shopping and uploading your receipts so you can redeem those free book credits.

Share a Reading Treat with a Child

You can earn up to 90 free books through the program and I want to encourage you not to simply keep them all for yourself. So, do your shopping at Walmart, grab some of the yummy snacks and sweets on the list and pull it all together to make a Reading Treat gift bin, box or bag for a deserving child (or two or three!).

We grabbed 8 pack of 20 oz. POWERADE Mountain Berry Blast, a specially marked 36 oz bag of REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups Minis and a 21oz box of Cheez-It White Cheddar Crackers from Walmart. There are so many other products on the list, so pick your favorites. By the way, we found those special REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups Minis in the candy aisle as well as in a special display right next to the POWERADE.

Walmart Start School Like A Champion

We have tons of Scholastic books already, so we picked some share-worthy titles. Simply add the snacks to a cool container like the locker bin we found at Walmart and remember to include a bookmark for your little reading friends. If you’d like the Reading Champion Medal we used, you can download a printable version here!
